Pont
du Carrousel
|
 |
It A failed
to be called the Pont des Saints-pères, of the street name to which
he leads. |
|
The
bridge built in 1834 by Ponceleau, under Louis Philippe, and immortalized
by Van Gogh and Jean Renoir, quickly was unsuited vis-a-vis the urban development
of Paris. It is rebuilt in 1939, after four years of work, under the direction
of engineers Gaspard and Morane. Composed of 3 reinforced concrete arches,
its overall length is 168 meters, and its width of 33 meters. Its ashlar
facing of size supports its integration in the architectural environment
of Louvres. |
